Birchbox Haul

Birchbox Haul | The Blushing Beauty

I am blessed with not only a nice, funny cousin and her girlfriend but also ones who are avid beauty junkies like me! A few weeks back she brought me a bunch of beauty goodies, and most were from Birchbox. I have never had a Birchbox, so I was very excited about these things! Jessica and Tina gave me an awesome surprise! Here’s what I was given:

Birchbox Haul | The Blushing Beauty

Here was a card from Birchbox with some info about the products, in case you are interested. This is just 4 of the many products I received, and they were from the March box.

The first four are all from Color Club, and I don’t own any from this brand, but the colors look pretty! (Left to right) Aquamarine, Heirloom Pearls, Top Shelf, Dark n’ Stormy. The other two are from the brand Ruffian, which I have also never tried! The colors both have a warm, gold tone to them and look super pretty. The colors are Fox Hunt and Hedge Fund.

Skin care!

First is the Coola Mineral Sunscreen. According to the Birchbox paper it’s sunscreen that “evens tone and masks flaws.” That sounds good to me. Next is the Grand Central Beauty Skin Perfecting Polisher. I’ve never used a skin polisher and it comes in such a cute baby sized bottle that I feel like I am going to have to like it just for that. Finally there is the Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Pore Refiner. From what I could tell on the website this is a primer. This stuff is super pricey in the full size so I am feeling fancy that I own it right now, even if it’s just the sample size, truthfully.

Hair and Body Stuff!

This Gilchrist and Soames Body Lotion is great! I haven’t used too much of it yet, but I love it so far. It’s very moisturizing but super light and cool. The Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle Leave in Conditioner smells great and looks cool, but it isn’t coming out of the bottle! I think it’s too thick to come up the straw for the spray so I might just have to pour it into my hand. Either way I am always wanting new hair products so this is neat. Then there is this Harvey Prince Cherie Blossom perfume sample. I’m not sure what I think of this scent yet, but if I like it you will see it in a favorites video or future post.

There’s a super cute quad from Coastal Scents. It’s the REVEALED PALETTE SAMPLER (it was in all caps I kid you not. Plus dramatic effects are cool.) The eyeshadow colors are very pretty and unfortunately I took a bad pic of them here but I will most likely show them up close in the future so you can see them better. Then there is a Sephora Eyeshadow Duo in Gorgeous Pink. It has two shimmery pinky purple colors. I have an idea for a look with these! Finally there is this Cheek and Lip Cream, How About Them Apples from the Balm. This is so awesome, it’s a very nice coraly red color and gives a nice flush! I like using this under a powder blush.

-Algenist  Triple-Action Micropolish & Peel

Yay for new beauty products! Thanks again to Jessica and Tina for donating your items to me!

Julep Nails: Bright Coral Fun

Julep Nails: Bright, coral and fun | The Blushing Beauty

This is the second Julep Nails post on my blog! I really enjoy doing these and here is what I am currently wearing.

I have been loving coral for the spring and upcoming summer. I found this nail polish in my collection, but unfortunately there’s no name on it! Seriously I don’t know if there was a sticker that peeled off or a label that wore off. Either way, I searched the entire Julep website trying to identify it, so this is the closest match I found to this color, which is from the brand Sinful Colors. I’m so sorry I couldn’t give you the name of this exact polish!

Julep Nails: Bright, coral and fun | The Blushing Beauty

This color is bright, but not neon, and looks super pretty and fun. I enjoy using pinky orange colors like this from time to time. I will be wearing this a ton in the future!

Julep Nails: Glittery and Girly

Julep Nails: Girly and Glittery | The Blushing Beauty

I love experimenting with different nail combinations! I have talked a lot about Julep nail polishes, and products in general too because I really like them, so if you would like to see a full review of Julep Nail Polishes you can check it out here. And quite honestly… Julep is pretty much the only brand I use of nail polish anymore! My cousin Jessica, who has given many of their products before, has got me hooked!  Thus, I used their polishes to create this look.

Julep Nails: Girly and Glittery | The Blushing Beauty

For this look, I went for light, glittery and girly. I used Zora, a whitish pink with a pearly finish on my 4 main fingers. Then on my ring finger, I used Missy, a glittery silver on my ring finger. It almost has a bit of a goldish tone to it in the light which sets it apart from your standard silver. I really love this color combo. Finally I finished off the look with the Polymer Topcoat.

Let me know what you think of this nail look in the comments! I’ll see you on Wednesday, and I love you!

April 2014 Favorites

April Favorites 2014 | The Blushing Beauty
April is over, so it’s time to do my favorites! I’m excited this month is over because that means one month closer to summer… no school… warmer weather…sleeping in…

I could really use that right now.

But let’s get to the point of this post, shall we?

April Favorites 2014 | The Blushing Beauty

Hair faves! I have my Keratin Infusion Serum from Suave. I have had this for around 6 months (I have a full review here), and I’ve been liking more now than in the past! It’s a very small bottle so I can throw it in my bag and touch up on my frizzy hair (aka lion mane) while I’m on the go. This smooths my hair and adds shine, which is great. I’ve also been loving the Aussie Split end protector to put on my ends and seal them so they won’t break as easily. After every time I wash my hair I use this and it makes my hair smell good and keeps it soft!

April Favorites 2014 | The Blushing Beauty

Makeup! First up is my Covergirl 3 in 1 foundation… okay I won’t go too in depth with this cause you’ve all heard the amazing reviews on it. I agree that it gives nice coverage and looks pretty natural, and for me the biggest plus is that it stays on all. day. long. I’ve never had a longer lasting face product than this, even with a primer! My shade 845, warm beige is also the perfect match.

My Elf Translucent Mattifying Powder is the bomb. This is better than the Rimmel Stay Matte by far! It’s 1. cheaper (a mere 3 bucks), and 2. works a whole lot better. It sets my foundation and doesn’t look cakey! Plus the packaging is nice, it reminds me of Nars products. This is one of the most underlooked powders, and just drugstore products in general.

April Favorites 2014 | The Blushing Beauty

I’ve also been enjoying the Smashbox full exposure mascara. It layers with other mascaras nicely and isn’t too clumpy!

April Favorites 2014 | The Blushing Beauty

For lips, I cannot express my love for MAC’s angel lipstick enough. This is my favorite nudey pinky color; it just looks really pretty! I’m so glad I recieved this for my birthday. Underneath it I wear my Nivea Lip Butter in Caramel Kiss to keep my lips moisturized and keep the dry skin away. I hauled this a month ago and I’ve been using it ever since.

April Favorites 2014 | The Blushing Beauty

Skincare! I love this baby, my Julep Cleansing Oil. Hands down the best all around makeup remover I’ve used. It’s nice because it’s breaks down all the stuff on the surface of your skin- whether that be dirt, makeup, or oil- and when you rinse it off it all slides off. And it’s gone. Fast and easy! And I’m not gonna lie… I use this on my eyes too cause I’m lazy. It doesn’t irritate them at all. Although it’s not the best for getting off waterproof mascara, it’s still nice.

April Favorites 2014 | The Blushing Beauty

Nails! Been loving my Julep Nail Polish in Monaco. It’s this gorgeous, vibrant cobalt blue. It’s super pretty and you get the best of a neon and a neutral. If turquoise and navy had a baby, this would be it.

April Favorites 2014 | The Blushing Beauty

Other beauty stuff! My cotton rounds are random but I love them! I use them with my nail polish remover and makeup remover. They rock. And then this cool hair clip I’ve had for awhile, called the croc clip, is great for sectioning off my thick hair.

April Favorites 2014 | The Blushing Beauty

MUSIC. I’ve been liking Two Door Cinema Club and Lana‘s new song West Coast. It’s great, it has a good mix of beats and a nice light song for the upcoming summer season. And I’ve also been liking music from Sam Woolf! He’s pretty much the best American Idol contestant if you haven’t heard of him. He’s a really talented and I love him and his music. My favorite song from him right now is probably Sailing Away by David Gray! You should watch/vote for him on Idol and check out his youtube.

Those were my April Favorites! I hope you guys had a good month! I had a lot of fun doing this post. Don’t forget to like this post and follow me if you enjoyed. Thanks and I love you guys! I’ll see you on Sunday.

Five Fab Ways to Spice up Your Look!

Five Fab Ways to Spice Up Your Look | The Blushing Beauty

Hi ladies! Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate! Today I wanted to share with you five (and pretty fab) ways to spice up your look. It’s easy to get bored around this time of year, when you are ready to be done with school. I avoided the most obvious thing, clothes, so hopefully these ideas are a little more original and will help you out!

1. Haircuts and Dye

The one thing that you can go wrong with a haircut. It will definitely change up your look without being too costly or time consuming. I’ve seen a lot of bloggers and youtubers cutting their hair! It looks great on all of them, and although I haven’t done it I think it’s cute! If you’re not feeling as bold you can always go for just a trim to keep your hair healthy. Dying your hair is always fun too; you can get highlights if you want to be in for spring. I dye mine darker personally but I think both are great!

2. Lip Color

I think the thing that can stand out the most when it comes to makeup is your lip color. For spring all colors are an option- you can do coral, hot pink, nude, or cherry red. This is fun to play around with and people will be sure to notice!

3. Eyeliner

Eyeliner is a great way to change your look. Instead of the typical brown or black, try purple or blue on your lowe lashline. It will add some color, and the great thing is that you can make it very bright or very subtle. This is one of my favorites.

4. Nails

This is probably the least obvious thing, but it’s fun and easy. Get some new nail polish in a bright color for spring and put it on to keep it simple, or try an easy design like this. Acrylics and Gel nails are always in if you want something extra exciting.

5. Piercings/Jewelry

I don’t know about you, but I always tend to notice when someone is wearing a statement necklace or even just a simple bracelet. Jewelry is a pretty and simple way to amp up your basics outfits, and some color. Plus, accessorizing instantly makes you look more put together. Who doesn’t want that? You can also get new piercings for more places to add jewelry. Both are great options just depending on what you wanna do!

Those are my tips! Let me know what you do to your look to spice it up. Be sure to like this post and follow me if you enjoy. I love you and have a wonderful day.
